Trust & Transparency

Editorial Standards & Research Methodology

How we research pricing, review content, and vet the contractors in our network — so you can trust what you read on TrustyFix.

Real Pricing Data

Every cost figure on TrustyFix is sourced from at least three independent inputs: licensed contractor invoices, manufacturer/supplier list pricing, and homeowner-reported quotes from across 50 U.S. metro markets. We refresh pricing every 6 months and flag the last update on every page.

Expert Review

Every guide is reviewed by a licensed contractor with at least 10 years of field experience in the relevant trade. Reviewers vet pricing claims, technical accuracy, and code references before any article is published or updated.

Independent Editorial

TrustyFix earns revenue when homeowners get matched with vetted contractors. Editorial content is produced separately from any business relationships — no contractor pays to be recommended, and our research team has no commercial influence over what we write.

Transparent Sourcing

When a stat or claim could change a homeowner's decision, we cite where it came from — Remodeling Magazine's Cost vs. Value Report, ENERGY STAR, ASHRAE, NRCA, etc. If we can't source it, we don't publish it.

Vetted Contractor Network

Before joining the TrustyFix network, every contractor passes (1) license verification with state databases, (2) general liability and workers' comp insurance verification, (3) criminal background check on owners, and (4) a customer reference check. We re-verify annually.

Homeowner-First Updates

When a code changes, a tax credit expires, or a major product is recalled, we update affected articles within 30 days. You can subscribe to our update log at the bottom of every guide.
